Life Force Energy
Reiki is a part of who I am and I wanted to share it with you.
Everything on this page is information that can be obtained in many volumns of Reiki teachings.
I am only the conduit.
Michele C. Long
Reiki I Practitioner
*The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words:
Rei, which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power”, and Ki, which is “life force energy.”
… give thanks for my many blessings.
… not worry.
… not anger.
… do my work honestly.
… respect the Oneness of All Life.
Reiki …
… is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It also promotes healing and can be a preventative treatment to help you reach a state of optimal health and balance. When in a balanced state few dis-eases can take hold.
… is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” (such as air, breath, wind, vital breath, vital essence or the activating energy of the universe) flows through us. It is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy,” (Ki or Chi) is low, one is more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, one is more capable of being happy and healthy.
… is safe for all (including plants, animals, infants and children, other people and yourself,) and is compatible with, and works in conjunction with, all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
… is a treatment for both the practitioner and the client. They can both usually feel the therapy as it manifests as heat, cold, tingling, throbbing, as well as a variety of other sensations. During the healing, the practitioner is acting as a conduit for the energy to flow through to the client.
… is a pure life force, capable of lowering one’s blood pressure and releasing blocked energy as well as dislodging toxins and buildups throughout the body.
… is a quantum form of healing, with a non-polarized energy that is attracted to where polarized imbalances exist and balances the body to allow it to heal itself.
… relieves pain, speeds the healing process, stops bleeding, relaxes the receiver, and balances the person’s chakras and aura energy.
… will not violate anyone’s free will.
Karma, in definition, simply means action, and every action has a reaction. Every culture has a concept of karma, which represent that the core truth in all of these is the “law of cause and effect.” Karma is not bad or good; it is only payment in kind for what you give out. Be very careful with what you give out because you will get it back tenfold.
“As you sow, so shall you reap.”
In reality, when we are willing to give, but not willing to receive, what we are actually doing is trying to control another. It is never wise to make another human being “indebted” to you, for when you do, you are creating a Karmic situation that is not just for this lifetime but for all eternity - until it is balanced out. It is better not to create the Karma in the first place.
Some people feel no one should charge for a healing, especially a spiritual healing. A Reiki practitioner is not charging for the healing. Reiki does the healing - they are only charging for their time. Keep in mind that “time is money,” and “the laborer is worthy of their hire.” Even though people have put a lot of meaning to money, it is good to remember as with Karma, money is neither good nor bad, but a means of exchange for one’s time and product.
I read once that if assisting at an accident, it is quite appropriate to give Reiki as a donation to the Universe by saying the following affirmation: “ I freely, and with Love, donate this treatment to the Universe, activating the law of ten-fold return, accepting my good in whatever present form is best.”
- The session is a safe space to express anything you need to in order to release any dis-ease that you are feeling; therefore you set the pace for conversation during the session.
- Reiki goes through almost anything, including the cast on a broken limb. Wear comfortable, loose clothing; remove glasses and any heavy objects or rubber-soled shoes because the sensations of the energy are diminished. Don’t cross arms or legs - it stops the flow of energy.
- In a session, it takes about five minutes to treat each position, or until the sensations subsides.
- A session is completed with a “brushing off” of energy. Be careful not to hurry to get up when finished.
- The treatment does not end when the session is finished. The energy will continue to flow for 24 to 48 hours, and some people may experience changes during that time.
- Reiki facilitates the removal of toxins from both tissue and body; therefore it is recommended to drink lots of water to flush the toxins out of the system. The release of the dis-ease causing toxins should be supported, not stopped. Eat lightly. A detoxification generally lasts a few days. Keep in mind that toxins, which are not quickly flushed out, will be re-absorbed.
- Reiki energy heals whatever needs healing. Because of the complexities, what happens in a session cannot be predicted and is literally out of the practitioner’s hands.
- A treatment allows the energy to flow through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including: body, emotions, mind, and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being.
Feng Shui, also called The Chinese Art of Placement, is roughly 3,000 years old and deals with the Chi, or energy, of land, rooms, or buildings just as Reiki deals with the Chi, or energy, of a person. When a person’s energy is stagnant, they have dis-ease. It is good to look at Feng Shui in correlation with Reiki to be sure all your energies are in balance.
Considering the total person - the mind, body, and spirit, as well as both the work and home environment can bring balance to all these areas.
I have spent the past six years studying this ancient art of Feng Shui. One subject that comes up again and again is Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs.) There has been numerous studies on the effects of high power lines and transformers on our environment as well as the day-to-day home appliances. It is not always what we see that can harm us, but what we don’t see!
“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.” Albert Einstein
“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it. Begin it now.” Goethe
“Do the thing and you will have the power.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The body the form will be shaped by the thought that underlies it.” Vivekananada
“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost, that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” Henry David Thoreau

Wealth is useless,
Reason is powerless.
