As I begin this day O God, guide me to look within for the start of peace.
Teach me to guard the power that my words create,
So that I can hear what I am molding with my conversations this day,
While we begin to design our world without distinctions.
When a stranger asks me what my race is,
Let the only words to roll naturally from my lips be: “the human race.”
And when that same stranger asks me who my father is,
Let me respond without a moment’s hesitation: “God.”
For in my heart I know that peace begins with me.
When the color of my brother’s skin becomes oblivious to me,
And I look into his eyes to recognize our common ground,
Then, ego will dissolve to create an enlightened world born out of harmony and love.
